Using Basmati Rice in Indian Cooking

I always use basmati rice for Indian dishes personally I think it's the best and it always delivers. Rice is one of basics when it comes to Indian food and it's the main staple across most of India. There are some simple rules to follow when you cook rice and when you get these right you will never look back.

Rice is used in a multitude of ways in India from plain rice as a side, biryani dishes where it's layered with a sauce, pilau where its cooked with other ingredients.

Other grades of rice are also soaked and ground to make a number of South Indian dishes such as idli and dosa. In south India rice will be eaten in one form or another with every meal.
