Hari says

Every Indian meal needs a fesh accompaniment to complete the it. Whether that be a delicate kachumber, a punchy onion pickle or a crunchy salad. This radish salad is just perfect with a curry or as a side to a healthy fish dish.

The radishes make it fresh and crisp and its beautiuful colours make it tasty to look at as well as adding a zing to your tastebuds. This little kick of chilli and its peppery undertones work really well with the earthy cumin seeds - this recipes works really well with a white mooli as well.

  • Ingredients
  • Method
  • 10-12 radishes
  • 1 handful coriander leaves
  • ½ green chilli
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2cm piece ginger, grated
  • 1 lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • splash of olive oil (optional)
  1. Finely slice the radishes and place them into a bowl
  2. Chop the coriander leaves and chilli and add to the bowl
  3. Toast the cumin seeds in a dry pan until you can smell their aroma then crush the seeds in a pestle and mortar. Sprinkle into the same bowl with the radish.
  4. Grate in the ginger, and squeeze in the lemon juice (and oil if using).
  5. Sprinkle in a little salt and mix everything together.

    Hello Hari,

I made this last night to eat with the spicy mackerel dish. Easy to assemble and and a welcome twist on salads. I added some seedless, finely chopped cucumber. The whole dish looked colourful and tasted great.
