The famous dinner scene in ‘Lady and the Tramp’ might not have been quite as romantic if there was a Balti between the two moonstruck pooches rather than a Bolognese!

Let’s face it, curry isn’t the first option that springs to mind for a romantic meal. But in my humble opinion this is a terrible shame because a good curry is one of the most romantic meals you can cook someone.

Imagine the appreciation from your loved one when you serve up a luscious and luxurious, restaurant quality Korma. You can boast over the painstaking process of getting all the wonderful ingredients together, carefully crafting the sauce and braising the meat for hours. It really is a labour of love.

Chuck in a few strewn rose petals and a couple of incense candles and you’ve got a feast for the senses sure to spice up any relationship.

So the next time you’re stuck for romantic meal ideas, spare a thought for the humble curry. I’ve got loads of romantic recipes for you to choose from below.

My kids love to snack. Whether it’s after school, during school or at the weekend, in my family you can be sure that some healthy kids’ snacks will pop up at some point! Children’s brains are working overtime to take in new sights, smells and experiences all around them. We need to keep our little ones well-fuelled, but as parents we know it’s important to prepare healthy snacks for kids.

Have a browse through my pages and inspire yourself to get creative in the kitchen. To save on time, you could whip up some of these tasty treats in batches and then dish them out over the week.

It’s great to cook Indian snacks for kids who like a bit of flavour and zing. A tasty little Samosa goes a long way. I know once I’ve made a batch, I struggle to stop my children eating them all in one go! So get stuck in and give kids healthy snacks a try.

More and more people are going dairy free either by choice, as a result of veganism, or due to a newly discovered intolerance. It turns out that a lot more people are sensitive to dairy than we thought.

Luckily, dairy free Indian food is very easy to come by. It’s true that most curries traditionally use ghee - clarified cow’s butter - as a cooking oil. But this is easily replaced with other oils like rapeseed oil or vegetable oil. My favourite for curries is coconut oil, which has many similar properties ghee.

Other than ghee, not many other dairy products are used in Indian cooking. Paneer - a curd cheese - is the other one to worry about, but it’s easily substituted with tofu.

With desserts things get a bit trickier. Many Indian desserts are made using milk powder or condensed milk. I’m sorry to say that I’ve not managed to find a decent alternative for either of these (yet!), however, there are some dairy free recipes you can try out if you want to make Indian desserts. For example, you could try using almond milk in Kheer rice pudding instead of regular milk.
