#CookWithHari blogger event roundup

I recently hosted my second ever food blogger event to celebrate cooking authentic Indian food, with a group of lovely local Brighton bloggers and one very knowledgeable journalist. The atmosphere was amazing, there were fantastic conversations (everything from cooking, travelling and work to wedding planning and relationships) and some very delicious food, if I do say so myself!

The evening kicked off with a refreshing mint lassi on arrival. We had different cooking stations along the stretch of the kitchen work surface for preparing four of my dishes, including Samosas, Vegetable Pakoras, Turkey Kebabs and Fish Cakes with an innovative vermicelli crunch. Everything was of course gluten-free to suit the needs of the community!

Everyone got stuck in, hands got messy and the atrium was full of chatter, laughter and the aromatic smell of spices. With pans searing and bubbling away, I was in my element, flitting between stations and helping out where I could.

As batches of fresh samosas and pakoras emerged, everyone got involved in eating, sharing and feeling proud of their work. Once we had finished cooking our kebabs and crunchy fish cakes, we dished up and tucked in (although I think we’d all been eating throughout the cooking!).

Afterwards I ran a demo on how to make Lemon Rice and Thari Wala – a deliciously fragrant, medium spiced, chicken curry – which went down a storm!

The event was a great success and from the wonderful feedback it seems everyone enjoyed themselves and left feeling well fed and like they’d really learnt something new about authentic Indian cuisine. My dream!

I’d like to say a special thank you to the bloggers who attended: Sarah from Modern Bric a Brac, Lily from Lily Blogs Life, Aisling from Aisybee, Jenna from Raw Rhubarb, Shelley from The Life and Times of Shelly Baker (massive congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!), Sophie from Jumble Style Blog and Mar from Little Chica. And of course Andrew from Latest 7!

Here’s a little film showing how we got on. Enjoy!
