Using Black Lentils in Indian Cooking

Whole black lentils are also known as urid beans. These need to be soaked overnight before using. Generally used for making thick creamy lentil dhals.

These can also be used in the split format.

Split urid beans have had the skin removed and split leaving a creamy split bean. Urid beans need to be soaked overnight before using.
