Spiced Cider

This makes a lovely wintery alternative to mulled wine.

Hari says

A little less cloying than wine and usually less alcoholic - so you can enjoy more of it. Very comforting, very warming and as it's made from apples, it has to be good for you!

  • Ingredients
  • Method
  • 1 litre cider
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 1 orange, peel only
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 2 tsp ground allspice
  • generous splash of brandy

Method

  1. Put all the ingredients into a saucepan and heat slowly. Stir and leave to simmer very gently for 20 minutes so the spices infuse into the cider. Stir occasionally and don't let it boil.
  2. After 20 minutes ladle into mugs and enjoy
