Mustard Raita

Hari says

You can flavour yoghurt with pretty much anything so if you like mustard you are going to love this. I like to serve this as a sauce with fish dishes but it's also really nice just as a dip.

  • Ingredients
  • Method
  • 300g Greek yogurt

  • splash of milk
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp mustard oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 1 red chilli, finely chopped

Method

  1. Put the yogurt in a bowl and pour it a little milk to loosen it and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small frying-pan, heat the oil over a medium flame and add the mustard and cumin seeds. When they become fragrant, add the garlic and let it sizzle. Ensure it doesn't brown.
  3. Pour all the contents of the pan into the yogurt and stir in the ginger and chilli.
