Old school lassi is just yoghurt, salt and ice water and if you think about it, it makes complete sense that this is what you'd drink in India's hot climate. It's cooling, refreshing, and replaces fluid and salt. That said, sweet lassi is more about personal taste than being an effective thirst quencher, and I make lots of smoothies (especially for breakfast in the summer or when we're on holiday). This has really been my inspiration for using fresh, seasonal fruit which has translated really well into the traditional lassi.
Great refreshing summer drink
