These are delicious little spice bombs packed full of flavour that are super easy to make. I can promise you everyone will love them (unless your friends don't eat meat that is).

The children love them (just remember to leave the chilli out for them), the guys will love them especially with a cold beer and because they a little nibbles your girlfriends will love them too.

It's the type of dish that vanishes as soon as you bring it out so make sure you do enough.
I love to serve these as a pre-dinner snack with some 5 spice Indian tomato chutney or a hot and tangy Mint chutney.

  • Ingredients
  • Method
  • 400g mince lamb
  • 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds, crushed
  • 1 tsp chilli powder (add a little more for more of a kick)
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • handful fresh coriander, finely chopped

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl add the mince lamb with all the other ingredients except the oil.
  2. Mix everything together using your hands to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
  3. Rub a little oil on to your hands to stop the mixture sticking to your fingers.
  4. Take a small amount of the meat and roll in your palms to make a meatball. Ensure it is smooth all over and set to one side. Repeat with the rest of the mixture.
  5. Heat the oil in a frying pan.
  6. Carefully fry the meatballs (kofta) in batches so they brown and crisp up all over (15-20 mins).
  7. Remove the kofta using a slotted spoon and set them on some kitchen paper to drain.
  8. Serve as a little snack or serve 2 or 3 as a lovely starter.
